Abstract

Character is the primary foundation of contemporary education; however, in practice, the correlation between character and academic achievement in specific subjects, such as Social Studies (IPS), is often not yet comprehensively mapped. The "7 Habits of Great Indonesian Children" program, initiated by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, serves as a strategic solution to effectively internalize social life values in students. This study aims to examine the influence of implementing the 7 Habits of Great Indonesian Children program on the social attitudes and academic achievement of students at SMP Negeri 1 Lahat. This research employs a quantitative approach with an experimental method. The research sample consists of 36 students from class VIII 5, selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were gathered through internal questionnaires regarding the 7 Habits Movement—including waking up early, worship, physical exercise, studying, social engagement, and early sleep—as well as Social Studies learning outcomes, which were then analyzed using simple linear regression. The results indicate that the implementation of the 7 Habits of Great Indonesian Children program has a positive and significant influence. The implementation of this program is proven effective in improving the quality of Social Studies learning at SMP Negeri 1 Lahat; therefore, it is recommended that Social Studies teachers integrate these habit-forming points into their teaching modules.
